Flood watch extended through the weekend. Here's what you need to know ~Caroline
The National Weather Service has extended the flood watch for SE Texas through Sunday evening. We have the potential for another 1-3″ of rainfall (and isolated higher amounts) Saturday night into Sunday morning. With how saturated our soils are it will not take much rainfall to see impacts. Excessive runoff is creating additional rises in rivers, creeks and streams. Those who live in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action if flooding should develop.
A few showers will be possible overnight tonight, but the chance is only 20%. We will be mostly cloudy with lows in the lower-70s. Another chance for strong thunderstorms is possible Saturday morning. The highest risk for flooding Saturday is NW of town.
We have the potential for two more rounds of thunderstorms Sunday. The first round is expected to move through Sunday morning around 5AM bringing lightning and heavy downpours. The second round will move through Sunday afternoon.
Simply put, we are in an extremely wet weather pattern. Please stay weather aware. We'll keep you posted on all flood warnings today and this weekend. Stay safe and never drive into a flooded roadway.
