Houston PD releases statement on sergeant arrested for DWI

The Houston Police Department has released a statement after an off-duty sergeant was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Sgt. Charles Ray Rudd was arrested around 1 a.m. on Saturday morning. He was off-duty and driving a personal vehicle when he was apprehended.

HPD released a statement confirming the charges and announcing that Rudd has been relieved of his duties pending the investigation.

The department said it holds its officers to the highest standard, and will take action up to, and including termination in the context of this situation.
